Q INTELLIGENCE
Proving ROI on Sustainability Software

Too often, sustainability & ESG software gets treated as a cost of doing business, purchased to tick compliance boxes.
But in reality, the ROI is real. It just looks different from traditional revenue-based ROI.
Here are our insights after reviewing 10+ in-depth interviews (100 pages of content!) with buyers & vendors:
3 Proven ROI Levers for ESG Platforms
1️⃣ Time saved — automation cuts reporting cycles by 40–70% (Gartner).
→ Example: One multinational cut CSRD reporting from 3 months to 6 weeks, freeing 200+ staff hours.
2️⃣ Error reduction — fewer mistakes = fewer fines & audits.
→ Example: A global manufacturer reduced error rates 60%, avoiding two external audits in their first CSRD cycle.
3️⃣ Operational efficiency — streamlined workflows mean more time for strategy.
→ McKinsey: Efficient ESG data management frees up 20% of team capacity.
💡 And don’t forget the “soft” benefits: lower financing costs, faster investor responses, stronger reputation - all of which can be monetized.
The takeaway? ESG integration isn’t just a compliance expense. Framed correctly, it’s a business enabler that delivers measurable value across time, costs, and resilience.

Q INTERVIEW
This week’s guest:
Daniel Gadd
CEO & Co-Founder of Position Green

1. Let’s start with the basics — what is Position Green, and what core problems are you solving for sustainability and ESG teams?
Position Green is a frontrunner in ESG software, built to help organizations accelerate their sustainability journey. What makes us unique is that we don’t just offer a platform — we combine our leading proprietary ESG software with hands-on advisory services and e-learning.
Our mission is to make sustainability measurable and actionable. We help companies simplify the often-complex ESG reporting challenge while building strategies that reduce risk, increase efficiency, and create real business value. In short, we give teams the tools and expertise they need to turn sustainability goals into tangible results with clear business impact.
2. Your company has grown into one of the fastest-growing ESG software providers in Europe - with 800+ customers, over 300 team members, and 11 offices globally. What do you believe has fueled that momentum?
Our growth is driven by three key factors. First, rising regulatory and investor pressure, especially from the EU’s CSRD and ESRS, has created urgency for companies to act, and we help them stay ahead. Beyond regulation, businesses increasingly see sustainability as essential for long-term success as climate impacts intensify. Second, our platform grows with our customers: they can start small and scale to deeper supply-chain analysis, more frameworks, and automation - always updated by top sustainability advisors. Finally, our people make the difference. We combine leading sustainability experts with world-class tech talent, many of whom are shareholders. That ownership drives alignment, innovation, and impactful solutions for our customers at scale.
3. What’s resonating most with clients today - is it your advisory model, data capabilities, regulatory readiness, or something else?
Customers consistently highlight our data capabilities as a key strength. They value the platform’s data quality, transparency, and traceability, being able to drill down from dashboards to the original source gives them confidence and audit readiness. Our new decarbonization features are also a hit, enabling forecasting, scenario modeling, and cost analysis to accelerate emissions reduction. Regulatory alignment is another major advantage: automated workflows and reporting templates simplify compliance with evolving standards. At the same time, our intuitive design makes adoption seamless across finance, compliance, and sustainability teams. But what truly sets us apart is the integration of software, advisory services, and e-learning, helping companies go beyond ESG reporting to fully embed sustainability into strategy and operations.
4. What’s next for Position Green, any new features, tools, or strategic moves on the horizon?
A big focus right now is embedding AI across even more across our platform— for example, fully automating up to 30% of the sustainability reporting process so people can save hundreds of hours on inputting data and more time executing on their sustainability strategy. We have many features in the pipeline that will continue to lower the time-to-impact for sustainability professionals and make it easier for them to connect their efforts to concrete business outcomes.
Another exciting development is our research partnership with the Stockholm School of Economics. We’re working on an ESG Index based on Position Green’s benchmarking data, exploring how sustainability initiatives link to business performance. It’s that kind of work that reinforces our belief that sustainability is about building stronger, future-ready businesses.
5. You recently acquired Morescope and Greenomy. What was the strategic thinking behind these acquisitions, and how do you plan to integrate them within the broader Position Green ecosystem?
We acquired Morescope and Greenomy to supercharge our mission of building Europe’s leading sustainability platform. With Morescope, we gain cutting-edge carbon-management technology to help companies measure and cut emissions faster, powered by our reach and resources. Greenomy brings deep expertise in CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and VSME reporting, strengthening our presence in Benelux and connecting us directly to EU capital markets. Together, we’re creating one unified ESG ecosystem, seamlessly combining carbon tracking, regulatory compliance, supply-chain transparency, and advisory services. These acquisitions allow us to deliver end-to-end sustainability solutions that help companies meet regulations, drive impact, and accelerate the green transition across Europe.
