Q INTELLIGENCE

Is buyer attention to nature solutions beginning to catch up with sustainability reporting? 🤔

In June, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) moved its Nature-related Disclosures project from research into standard-setting.
The planned requirements would complement IFRS S1 and S2 and help investors assess companies’ nature-related risks and opportunities, signaling where sustainability disclosure expectations may be heading.

KanataQ Market Intelligence suggests buyer attention is already moving in this direction:

  • Average profile views for selected Biodiversity and Natural Capital solutions increased by approximately 15%.

  • Views for Reporting and Disclosure solutions rose by approximately 40%, narrowing the gap considerably.

For buyers, the question is becoming: Do your current systems capture nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities, or only carbon?

For providers, the opportunity lies in connecting credible nature data with traceable methodologies and disclosure-ready reporting.

As nature enters the reporting mainstream, solutions that connect measurement with disclosure may be best positioned to capture growing buyer interest.

Asuene raised $87 million in a Series D funding round and also acquired supply chain carbon management platform Secaro for $37 million. The funding will support the company’s M&A strategy, AI and product development, and expansion of its sustainability platform, which helps businesses manage emissions, supply chains and regulatory reporting in response to growing disclosure requirements such as the CSRD and CBAM. The acquisition expands Asuene’s supply chain emissions capabilities as demand for Scope 3 reporting grows.

Energy simulation software provider Gridcog raised $10 million in a Series A funding round to scale its platform for modeling and optimizing renewable energy, battery storage and hybrid energy projects. Led by ABB, the funding will support the expansion of Gridcog’s energy flexibility platform as growing renewable deployment and grid constraints increase demand for more advanced energy system modeling.
